Every cigarette smoker knows how difficult it is to stop smoking. There are many remedies out there that promises you to help you quit smoking but none of them actually work. That is why many smokers turn to smoking cessation acupuncture to help them quit this nasty habit.

    The Effects Of Smoking

The Surgeon General of the US has stated "Smoking conclusion represents the most crucial step that smokers can take to improve the length and quality of their lives." It could also be the most significant step that you can take to boost the standard of your appearance.

In 1985 the term "smokers face" was added to the medical compendium. A study done in Norway in 1998 cited that ladies emphasise the effects of smoking on physical look as a general incentive to give up, while men discussed general health benefits. I need to say honestly that conceitedness had something to do with my call to stop smoking. I had started to smoke at the age of sixteen when I began dating a smoker. Sadly , when the relationship finished the smoking didn’t. I was left with a habit that would haunt me. It was in the latter 70’s when I worked in a medical office where we administered chemical treatment to cancer patients. I knew more on the health effects than the general public witnessing it first hand on an everyday basis. I actually had an ashtray at my desk and smoked at the office. Like most smokers I was in a condition of denial. I was in my early 20’s and felt invincible. I claimed to myself "it will not happen to me". Besides, I loved my cig and cup of joe in the morning, and nothing could beat relaxing with a ciggie after a good meal.

It looked all my mates smoked too.

I was in my mid-30’s when I met a person whose elders were smokers. When I looked at his mother’s aged and horribly lined face I presumed "Oh my goodness, that might be me in 20 more years." Seeing her made an impression on me that I’ll always remember. She was definitely a considerable time smoker with the tell-tale vertical lines all round her mouth. She had a grayish tinge to her skin, which was as thin as it may be. She looked a full ten years older than her true age. Her fingers were essentially stained yellow by nicotine. It was a wake up call for me. There’s no rejecting the negative aftermath of smoking on your appearance. Smoking dries out the skin. Smoking causes artery constriction of the top layers of skin which reduces the oxygen levels leading to a dreary complexion. Due to this constriction of arteries and poor circulation a smokers skin is thinner than a non-smokers skin. It’s been shown in studies to be up to 40 percent thinner. Smoking decreases the level of collagen in the skin leading to loss of pliability and the fast formation of wrinkles and lines.

Naturally you have everything to gain making an attempt to stop smoking except for just the improvement in your appearance. Another report released by the U.S. Surgeon General in 2004 titled "The Health Results of Smoking," disclosed that smoking ( or living with an individual who smokes ) may cause illness in virtually each organ of the body, in men as well as ladies. I was fortunate that I successfully kicked the habit nearly a decade back. I am doing have a trace of those tell-tale lip lines and though you may not see them, I am doing. I have spent a fortune over time in skin products.

I will never have the face I would’ve had if I’d never started to smoke. But today I regard myself as a far happier and just as significantly, a much healthier person for having stopped. No matter what the reason, self-importance or health – just quit!
